The morning of Sunday 23rd Sept was overcast down in the city, and driving up the Mount Seymour road we entered a heavy mist. The Brockton tent at the end of the parking lot ensured no-one got lost and we gathered for a prompt start at 9:30. Some hearty souls arrived in shorts, and were much sympathised with, however, they had the right idea. Ron fortunately knew where he was going, and leaped off like a mountain goat, blazing the way for the rest of us, huffing and puffing to keep up. As we started climbing we started to remove our outer layers, and enjoyed the sunbeams shining through the trees which was quite magical. We tried not to get too strung out along the trail so that everyone could see people ahead to follow, as many of us did not know the trail. By the time we got up to Brockton Point we were in glorious sunshine! We were up above the clouds for our sushi and cookie snacks, which were much appreciated. It was a long walk for the little ones, who all did really well and those carrying even littler ones were amazing. All in all it was a lovely morning, and I for one was very glad I had got up early to enjoy our local mountain. A big thank you, to everyone who made it on Sunday.
